Non-destructive testing (NDT) is a mobile testing method that can be performed on-site without destroying material samples or components. The aim of NDT in the construction sector is to identify possible defects and damage to building elements and structures before they become a safety risk or impair functionality. A safe inspection method is X-ray inspection, which can be performed almost anywhere using portable systems. This technique provides high penetration with up to 7 cm of steel and allows on-site, real-time, meaningful decision support.

In general, the selection of the appropriate test method depends on various factors, such as the material and size of the part or component and the type of defect to be diagnosed. Mobile X-ray in the construction industry is possible, among other things, during the inspection of finished components, but also as early as the construction planning stage. The localization of cables, lines and pipes can be a helpful addition already at the beginning of a construction project. Thanks to portable systems, tests can be carried out quickly and effectively to identify potential weak points in the structure of the building and, if necessary, rectify them before major damage occurs.
