Ensuring trouble-free and protected communication is an important framework condition for successful operations. Frequently, the respective deployment parameters are only insufficiently known in advance or not known at all; nevertheless, a high degree of flexibility in terms of time and space is increasingly expected from the emergency forces.

Another challenge is the variety of data to be exchanged: Position information, coordinates (including their change), images (location, incidents), videos (e.g. reconnaissance by UAV), but also control signals for various end devices (robots, UAV, cameras). Depending on the deployment scenario, different systems must also be used in parallel or additional systems (e.g. repeaters) must be integrated to increase the range or compensate for terrain influences. Mature technology is needed to meet these requirements.
